Description
A foyer welcomes guests into this modern 50m2 apartment, and leads them into the day area, a room virtually divided into two parts: a living area, furnished with a double sofa bed (1,40m wide), a chord carpet and a flat screen with satellite connection for Internet and television programs, and right behind an open plan kitchen, in shiny white and steel and fully equipped with all necessities including a dishwasher and a regular and microwave oven. A breakfast bar with stools separates the two areas, whilst a large skylight brightens the entire room.
the sleeping area consists in a large double bedroom found right after the day area and furnished with a double bed (1,60m wide), two nightstands with lamps, and a large niche with a heavy curtain creating the closet, while a corner is dedicated as a study, with a writing desk and small table with printer-fax machine, making it an ideal home for both professionals and students. The snow-white bathroom, by the entrance, is complete with bathtub, washbasin, toilet and washing machine.
Quartier
The apartment is by the famous Montmartre, a hill 130 metres high, in the north of Paris in the 18th arrondissement, a part of the Right Bank, primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit and as a nightclub district. The other, older, church on the hill is Saint Pierre de Montmartre, which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit order of priests was founded. Many artists had studios or worked around the community of Montmartre such as Salvador Dalí, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh.
Montmartre means 'mountain of the martyr'; it owes its name to the martyrdom of Saint Denis, who was decapitated on the hill around 250 AD. Saint Denis was the Bishop of Paris and is the patron saint of France.
The hill's religious symbolism has been suggested as a likely druidic holy place because it is the highest point in the area.
